Scholarships

The UVA Library is proud to be able to offer the Emulation in the Archives Workshop entirely free of cost. However, we understand that there are other costs associated with attending events like this one. For this reason, we are offering several scholarships.

Application deadlines for all scholarships is April 15, 2019 at 11:59 pm.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

IDEA Scholarship

(Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility)

2 $500 awards, 1 $250 award

UVA Library is committed to opening Special Collections, Archives, and Preservation communities to populations historically underrepresented in these fields. We are excited to be able to provide designated scholarships for applicants that are underrepresented in our community.

To apply:

Write a brief statement (less than 500 words) with the following information:

  1. A letter of interest, which:
    1. Identifies your interest in the IDEA scholarship
    2. Describes how you intend to participate in the workshop and your interest in attending
    3. Discusses your merit and needs for the scholarship
  2. A resume or CV
  3. Provide a letter of support from one professional or academic reference

Travel Scholarship


1 $500 award, 1 $250 award

Though the workshop itself is free, we recognize that there are still underlying costs for travel to Charlottesville that may represent a barrier to attendance.

To apply:

Write a brief statement (less than 500 words) with the following information:

  1. A letter of interest, which:
    1. Identifies your interest in the travel scholarship
    2. Describes how you intend to participate in the workshop and your interest in attending
    3. Discusses your merit and needs for the scholarship
